Hi, my name is Caitlyn and I’m obsessed with all things birth!

A little about me: I’m happily married to my high school sweetheart, and together we’re navigating this beautiful journey of parenthood with our sweet baby girl, born in February 2024. I grew up in Santa Cruz County, and I feel blessed to call this beautiful place home. Some of my favorite things include curling up with a good book, savoring every sip of coffee, nurturing my garden, lifting weights, and spending quiet moments with Jesus.

The start of discovering my passions…

I grew up playing sports, but it wasn’t until high school that I really developed a passion for fitness. I fell in love with weight training, getting stronger, and feeling more confident in myself. By my senior year, I knew I wanted to help others feel strong and create a healthy relationship with exercise, so I got certified as a group fitness instructor. I started teaching all kinds of classes—high-intensity circuits, weight training, spin, and core workouts.

As I got more involved in fitness, I started learning how important proper nutrition is. Holistic nutrition stood out to me because it looks at the whole person, not just one problem. I also loved the idea of using food as medicine and a way to reach goals. After high school, I went to Bauman College and became a certified holistic nutritionist. Once I started consulting, I realized how powerful it was to combine fitness and nutrition, which led me to get certified as a personal trainer too. Now, I work with people one-on-one for fitness and nutrition, and I still teach group fitness classes.

Working with mamas!

As I started working with different clients, I realized how much I loved working with pregnant women and new moms. I’ve always been fascinated by pregnancy (it was even my favorite topic in college), and I loved helping moms feel stronger during pregnancy and better prepared for labor and delivery. I began researching the best ways to work out during pregnancy and postpartum, but I found there wasn’t a lot of clear or helpful information out there. That’s when I decided to enroll in a program to become a pre/postnatal fitness specialist. I learned all about training the pelvic floor, specific exercises to help the body adjust to pregnancy, and how to prepare for labor and delivery. The more moms I trained, the more I realized how much I loved it. Seeing how our work together made such a difference in their birth and postpartum experience really solidified my passion for training pregnant and postpartum women.

During my trying-to-conceive journey and pregnancy, I dove into learning everything I could about birth. I started educating myself and my husband through podcasts, books, courses on physiologic birth, and listening to tons of birth stories (which led me to creating the Birth Partner Support Guide).

It was during that time I realized how many unnecessary interventions and lack of support moms face, and how fear-based the birth industry can be.

That’s when my passion for birth work took off!

In November of 2023, I took a two-weekend, in-person doula course that kickstarted my journey to becoming a doula. Learning hands-on techniques, basic birth education, and how to support moms sparked my love for birth and reignited my passion for supporting women. After that, I enrolled in an extensive doula and birth educator certification program with Birth Worker Academy, which really laid the foundation for my birth work. The more I learned, the more I started questioning everything I’d ever been told about pregnancy, birth, and the choices we have.

Discovering that I could have an autonomous birth, avoid unnecessary interventions, and let go of the fear around birth completely changed things for me.

When I realized how many women need that same education, advocacy, and support to have positive births, my mission became clear. I’m here to make sure you have the beautiful, empowering birth experience you deserve.
